EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED THERAPY (EFT) IN NEWCASTLE, ME
A MAP THAT LEADS TO A MORE OPEN CONNECTION.
YOU KNOW YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER—SO WHY IS CLOSING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU SO HARD?
Nothing hurts more than feeling unimportant to your partner, and both of you may have been feeling that way for some time. You want to reconnect, resolve your issues, and understand each other better, but you’ve drifted so far apart that you’re not sure how to find one another again.
I use EFT with couples who…
Feel the weight of their demanding careers—whether in medicine, therapy, or business—and struggle to balance their work with the connection they deeply want at home.
Love each other but keep running into the same frustrating misunderstandings, especially when it comes to money, intimacy, parenting, or simply feeling heard.
Want more from their relationship but find it difficult to ask, knowing how much their spouse already carries in their professional life.
Find themselves feeling distant, not because they don’t care, but because life’s pressures and transitions have left their relationship feeling unfamiliar.
Want to do more than just stop the arguments—they want to rebuild trust, deepen their emotional bond, and truly feel like a team again.
Worry that “not being good at emotions” means they can’t have a deeply connected relationship—but are willing to explore what’s really happening beneath the surface.
HOW IT WORKS
-
There’s no “bad guy” here—just two people trying to find their way back to each other. My job is to help you break free from frustrating cycles and build a relationship where both of you feel deeply connected and secure.
The heart of this work is helping you and your partner truly tune in to each other—so you feel seen, valued, and safe together. This means being open about your fears, needs, and emotions, and responding to each other with care. When you can do this, conflict doesn’t have to push you apart, it can actually bring you closer.
-
When something in your relationship feels off, it’s natural to wonder, “Are you really there for me?” “Do I matter to you?”—and when the answer isn’t clear, it can create everything from unease to full-blown panic.
That’s because we’re wired to seek connection, and when that connection feels shaky, we react—sometimes with anger, sometimes by shutting down, sometimes by over-explaining or blaming. The problem? These reactions often make things worse, not better.
Instead of focusing on who’s at fault, we’ll look at the dynamic between you—what’s happening beneath the surface that keeps you stuck in the same painful loops—and start shifting from reactivity to deeper understanding.
-
This isn’t about memorizing a list of communication tips—you won’t be pulling out a script in the middle of an argument.
Instead, we’ll slow things down so you can really feel what’s happening inside of you, beyond the frustration or silence or distance. You’ll learn to tune into what you truly need and express it in a way your partner can actually hear.
It’s one thing to talk about emotions—it’s another to experience a moment where you let your guard down, say what’s in your heart, and feel your partner respond in a way that brings you closer. That’s the kind of shift that changes everything.
-
By the time you leave, you won’t just understand your patterns—you’ll have a map for finding your way back to each other when things go off course.
Conflict isn’t a sign your relationship is broken, it’s a sign that something important needs attention. The most successful couples aren’t the ones who never fight—they’re the ones who know how to repair.
Together, we’ll practice what that looks like, so the next time you feel stuck, you’ll have a way forward—one that leads not just to resolution, but to deeper connection.

The beautiful thing is,
THERE’S NO LIMIT TO THE HEIGHTS OF YOUR GROWTH TOGETHER OR THE DEPTHS OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP—as long as you’re committed to nurturing it.

FAQS
-
EFT requires a level of emotional and physical safety that isn’t possible in relationships where there is ongoing abuse, severe untreated addiction, or active infidelity. If there is intimate partner violence—whether physical, sexual, or emotional—it’s not safe to engage in therapy that asks for vulnerability. Similarly, if one partner is holding onto a secret that directly impacts the relationship and is unwilling to share it, this work can’t move forward effectively. EFT also isn’t the right fit for couples where one person is primarily looking to blame or diagnose their partner rather than work on the relationship together. If any of these apply, I can help guide you toward individual support or other resources that might be more helpful.
-
Traditional talk therapy often focuses on insight—understanding what’s going wrong and why. EFT goes deeper, helping you actually feel and shift the emotional patterns that keep you stuck in painful cycles. Instead of just talking about problems, we focus on reshaping the way you and your partner emotionally connect in real time. It’s an experiential, in-the-moment process that helps you both feel safer, closer, and more understood.

I love EFT because there’s no "bad guy"—just two people trying to find their way back to each other. When we feel disconnected from our partner, it’s natural to panic, shut down, or get caught in frustrating cycles that make things worse. EFT helps us see those cycles for what they are—protest signals for connection—so we can shift out of blame and into deeper understanding. It’s a powerful way to move from conflict into closeness, and that’s why I use it.
